Law Enforcement Guidelines

Last updated: July 1, 2026

These guidelines are for law enforcement agencies and legal professionals seeking information about ShinDig users or activity. ShinDig is a live social video platform operated in the United States. We take our legal obligations seriously and cooperate with valid legal process while working to protect the privacy of our users.

All requests should be directed to: shindigsupport@gmail.com with the subject line Law Enforcement Request.

1. Types of Legal Process We Accept

ShinDig responds to the following types of legal process from law enforcement and government authorities:

Subpoenas

Valid subpoenas compel production of basic subscriber information such as name, email address, account creation date, and IP address logs where available. We will notify the user unless prohibited by law or court order.

Court Orders

Court orders issued under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(d) or equivalent authority may compel production of additional non-content records such as login history, device identifiers, and account activity logs.

Search Warrants

Search warrants issued under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) or supported by probable cause may compel production of content including messages and profile data. We will not produce content without a valid warrant unless an emergency exception applies.

Emergency Disclosures

If we reasonably believe there is an imminent threat to the life or safety of any person, we may voluntarily disclose limited information to law enforcement without formal legal process. Emergency requests should clearly describe the nature of the emergency and be sent to shindigsupport@gmail.com.

3. How to Submit a Request

Email shindigsupport@gmail.com with the subject line Law Enforcement Request. Please include:

  • Name and badge number or official title of the requesting officer or attorney
  • Agency name, address, and official contact information
  • A copy of the legal process (subpoena, court order, warrant, or emergency declaration)
  • The ShinDig username, email address, or user ID of the account(s) in question
  • A description of the information being requested and its relevance to the investigation
  • The return date or deadline, if any

Requests lacking sufficient identifying information or valid legal process will not be fulfilled. We are unable to accept verbal requests.

4. User Notification

Unless prohibited by law or court order, our general practice is to notify users when their account data is subject to a legal request, in advance of producing data where feasible. We may delay notification in cases involving imminent risk to life, ongoing investigations where notification would obstruct justice, or where a court has ordered non-disclosure.

5. Preservation Requests

Law enforcement may request that ShinDig preserve account data while formal legal process is being obtained. We will attempt to preserve data for 90 days upon written request, with one 90-day extension available. A separate valid legal process is required to obtain the preserved data.

6. Child Safety

ShinDig has zero tolerance for content that sexually exploits minors. We are required by law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report any apparent violations of federal child sexual exploitation laws to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). When we become aware of such content, we act immediately — preserving relevant data, removing the content, and filing a CyberTipline report with NCMEC.

7. International Requests

ShinDig is operated in the United States. We respond to requests from international law enforcement through established mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) processes or other mechanisms recognized under U.S. law. We do not produce user data in response to requests from foreign governments that lack a valid MLAT agreement with the United States.

8. Cost Reimbursement

ShinDig reserves the right to seek reimbursement for costs associated with responding to legal process, as permitted by law under 18 U.S.C. § 2706.
